Former PSNI Chief Constable Dr Sir George Hamilton has joined the board of Co-operation Ireland.

Sir George is the second appointment to the board in 2019, with former SDLP leader Margaret Ritchie joining the charity in April.

He has taken up the role after a 35 year policing career in both Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Commenting on his appointment, Sir George said, “I am looking forward to engaging with and supporting the work of Co-operation Ireland. The work being done by the charity building relationships across these islands has never been more important and I look forward to making a contribution.”

Co-operation Ireland Chairman Dr Christopher Moran said, “On behalf of Co-operation Ireland I am delighted to welcome Sr George Hamilton to the board.

“Sir George has had a distinguished career and I am looking forward to working with him to promote relationships across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and between London and Dublin.”
