National Citizen Service in Northern Ireland

Unfortunately NCS won’t be running in NI in 2022.

We are working behind the scenes to bring NCS or similar programme back to NI and of course will update with any info just as soon as we have it.

In the meantime, please feel free to register your info for our Future Leaders programme, open to young people aged 16+.  Although it doesn’t run in the summer, there may be some opportunities in the fields of personal learning, relationship building (north/south) and social action upcoming from September.

You can register here, with no commitment required – we’ll just get in touch with any opportunities that become available.

In the meantime, thinking about the future, here’s a wee overview of what NI NCS can offer.

NI NCS ordinarily runs twice a year in summer and autumn and is delivered in 16 areas across the country over the course of the two seasons.

Taking place from the end of June in summer and the Halloween break in autumn, NCS begins with an action packed residential experience away from home within a team of 12-15 people, then a discovery phase to learn skills for life and work, and finally meeting up with the team to plan and deliver an action project to make a difference.  We wrap up with a graduation and celebration event with all NI NCS graduates from your season.

Northern Ireland National Citizen Service (NI NCS) is a way for 15-17 year olds living in Northern Ireland to make extraordinary friendships, build skills for life & work and create unforgettable memories.

NCS involves

  • Staying away from home
  • Taking on new challenges
  • Gaining new skills
  • Making new friends
  • Planning and running a team social action project
