Community Capacity Building Project

Intercomm Ireland are supporting the development of community and voluntary sector capacity in Carrickfergus and Larne. The programme will provide opportunity for groups to focus on their own needs and development goals and includes and organisational health check, training and support and the opportunity for groups to develop their own project.

Health and Well-being Project

Extern NI are building on their existing community based projects to deliver a health and well-being project in Carrickfergus and Larne. The project will raise awareness of available services in the area, training local people as community health champions and befrienders and offer intervention to those impacted by drugs, and offer intervention to those impacted by drugs, alcohol and mental health.

Community Safety project

Intercomm Ireland are working in Carrickfergus and Larne to delivery a community safety project which will support engagement between local residents, community stakeholders and relevant statutory agencies through the establishment of two local community engagement forum to address local community safety issues and deliver community safety initiatives. 

Arts and Culture Project

Intercomm Ireland are delivering a project to increase capacity of groups and individuals to be agents of change in their area through the arts. The project will include provision of training in arts as a pathway into employment and volunteering, together with support and encouragement of approaches to celebrate culture and identity in a positive way.

Restorative Practice Project

The STARS (Striving Towards a Restorative Society) project is being delivered by Community Restorative Justice Ireland and NI Alternatives. The project aims to increase the use of restorative practice within community settings. The project will raise awareness of restorative practices and upskill organisations and their staff to use restorative approaches in their work.
