Co-operation Ireland Future Leaders Programme tackles food waste

Fri 03 Sep 2021 by Co-operation Ireland

Young people on the Co-operation Ireland Future Leaders programme will take part in a fantastic social action project this weekend designed to tackle the growing problem of food waste.

In partnership with the British Council, our Future Leaders will join The Circular Gastronomy – Breaking the Mould in Dublin on Sunday at 2pm to learn what special and tasty things can be made through the use of food products that were otherwise going to be put to waste.

The young people will be serving delicious food free of charge, that has been collected from supermarkets who were otherwise throwing it out. Through this, we hope to raise awareness about food sustainability, food security, and environmentalism generally speaking.

Moreover, by hosting local bands and guest speakers, we intend on creating a space that is bustling with creativity and fun but is also conducive to having critical conversations about some of the pertinent issues facing our climate today.

This event will be hosted outdoors but is still subject to limited numbers so we can keep everyone safe in the space that we have – please click ‘going’ on this event if you intend on doing so. Anyone who can’t make it can take part online.
