About Us

Co-operation Ireland, USA is the U.S. based affiliate organization of Co-operation Ireland (Belfast-Dublin). As a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization located in NY, New York. CI-USA's primary purpose is to secure funding and to strategically raise awareness of Co-operation Ireland's innovative, grass-roots peace and reconciliation programs and cross-border and cross-community initiatives. The New York office seeks to strengthen the relationship between the people of Northern Ireland and Ireland and concerned Americans.

Mission "To advance mutual understanding and respect by promoting practical co-operation between the people of Northern Ireland and of the Republic of Ireland."

Our aim is to transform relationships between communities which continue to experience tension and conflict. Our non-political, non-sectarian philosophy is further complemented by our Joint Patrons Her Majesty the Queen and President Mary McAleese.

Co-operation Ireland USA's Board of Directors consists of influential corporate and governmental leaders who support the vision of a lasting reconciliation. Their commitment provides a platform from which we conduct strategic fundraising, public awareness and advocacy efforts across corporate, foundation and U.S. governmental categories alike. Our U.S. Board includes such prominent Americans as Senator George J. Mitchell, the Honorable Benjamin Gilman and Richard Riley, Former U.S. Secretary of Education.

Various collaborative efforts yield critical funding for our pioneering programs, including Civic-Link, a cross-border exchange initiative for youths. The U.S. Department of Education joins Irish, UK, and EU agencies in supporting this innovative reconciliation project. These cutting-edge programs emphasize simplicity in managing a historically complex problem.

Our portfolio of peace and reconciliation programs is completely reliant on the good will and philanthropy of corporations, foundations and individuals. If you or your organization would like to learn more about the events or support one of our projects on the Island of Ireland, please contact us at coop-ire@rcn.com or by telephone at 212 572 4832.
