New Community Arts Project Announced

Co-operation Ireland is pleased to announce a new arts based project for community groups based in Counties Louth, Armagh and Down. Songs and Stories will allow groups to explore the themes of identity, difference, culture and heritage using photography, music and storytelling.

The “Songs and Stories” project is supported by the European Union’s PEACE III Programme as awarded by Louth Peace and Reconciliation Partnership. It is a community arts project managed by Co-operation Ireland and delivered to community groups across the three counties. It will be officially launched in November 2009.

The programme will provide local community leaders with

  • community arts training
  • opportunities to develop cross-border partnerships and networks
  • support in the delivery of a community arts project for their local area (for which there will also be financial support)
  • opportunities to participate in project showcase events

Groups in the eligible areas and who would like to participate should register their interest.

Places on this programme are limited and we expect demand to be high. An early response is therefore encouraged.
