We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who took part in Phase 1 of the Communities in Transition project (Action B4 of the Tackling Paramilitarism Action Plan) earlier this year.
The contributions made have informed the area summary reports, which set out what participants told us during Phase 1. These reports highlight key issues within the eight Communities in Transition areas across a range of themes and identifies possible solutions to tackling these issues.
We are conscious that there will be other views and perspectives on the issues associated with paramilitarism, criminality and organised crime and the purpose of the publication is to stimulate discussion and promote debate on issues that are of utmost importance to the continuing development of our society.
With Phase 1 now complete, this summary report will be used to encourage conversations during Phase 2 when we will be re-engaging with communities as part of a participatory design phase. This will be opportunity for local communities to work with us to turn those ideas and proposals previously discussed into activities which can be delivered in each area.
