Today's Amazing the Space event to be streamed live around the world by the Education Authority
Co-operation Ireland’s second Amazing the Space event 2018 will take place today (Friday 23rd of March) with 2,500 young people from across Northern Ireland and the Border Counties set to come along to the Eikon Centre to re-pledge their commitment to build peace in their communities.
At the last Amazing the Space event schoolchildren from 409 schools wrote peace pledges and this week they will celebrate their continuing participation with an event featuring live performances and celebrity guests.
This memorable show will be among Northern Ireland’s largest peace focused events and it will be streamed live by the Education Authority TV service.
Peter Sheridan, Co-operation Ireland Chief Executive said; “We are excited to have been involved in the organisation of Amazing the Space, a project we see as being integral to the development of a peaceful society in Northern Ireland.
“To have so many young people in one place proactively speaking out in favour of peace and committing to living their lives through peaceful means can only bode well for society.”
Education Authority Chief Executive Gavin Boyd added; "EA has supported Amazing the Space from the beginning of the project in 2016. We are delighted to see so many of our young people engaged and excited about living out their peace pledges and the positive impact that can have in their schools and local communities.
"I am always amazed at the creative ways in which our young people demonstrate their commitment to peace through cross community sports, arts projects and performing arts activities. This undoubtedly contributes to our commitment to promoting Shared Education in Northern Ireland and encouraging schools in all sectors to work together for the benefit of all our children and young people.
"I look forward to the programme and would encourage everyone to watch the live stream of the event."
