In aid of Co-operation Ireland
More than 30 Bank of Ireland staff from across the Network in NI, and central support functions, participated in this. the third iteration of the charity football match, played this time in the iconic surroundings of Derry City FC’s Brandywell Stadium.
A close match ebbed and flowed under a hot sun, and when Team East, the holders for the past two years, ran into a 4-2 lead early in the second half it looked as though the game was up for West’s chances of finally winning the trophy. Two quick goals from West levelled the tie and with 10 minutes to go it seemed as though there might be a first foray into a penalty shoot-out, but it wasn’t to be, as East scored another two to retain their hold on the trophy for another year.
Proceeds from the friendly go to Co-operation Ireland and Barnardos.
Thanks to everyone who participated and supported the event.
