Join Co-operation Ireland for the 2009 ING New York City Marathon.

The New York City Marathon is one of the largest and most spectacular of marathons. More than 35,000 runners pound the streets of the city’s five boroughs, passing through the multicultural areas of Brooklyn, the Bronx and Harlem and in view of the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building.

The ‘city that never sleeps’ pays host to 2.5 million spectators and runners from all over the world and Co-operation Ireland has brought a team to the New York City marathon since 1992.

Francie Craven ran the 2008 Marathon to support young people to participate in cross-community and cross-border projects

“I have participated in quite a number of marathons around the world but nothing quite prepares you for the ING New York City event. The place, the people and the camaraderie is second to none. It is an event that you just want to keep doing – it is that good. Going as a member of Co-operation Ireland’s team means you get star treatment with people shouting encouragement from start to finish. And best of all you know that the money you raise is helping to bring about a more peaceful inclusive society at home.”
